Taking Care Of Your Car

We cannot prevent external influences like humidity, changes in temperature, sunlight, road salt, industrial gases, bird droppings, tree sap etc. from attacking a car’s coating.

Without regular and adequate paintwork aftercare, the gloss will soon fade and the coating will lose its resistance to external influences. The answer to this problem is adequate paintwork maintenance with aftercare products to preserve the value of the car’s coating.

GOOD PREPARATION AND OPTIMAL SURFACE DRYING

  • Before polishing or waxing the coating of a car, it is essential that it should first be washed thoroughly.
  • Never use polish or wax in full sunlight, as the warm surface of the paintwork is more sensitive and therefore more difficult to work on.
  • New, fresh refinish paint should be cleaned carefully with clear water only (no additives) for the first 4 to 6 weeks.
  • It takes this long for the paint film to fully cure and for residual solvent to escape from the paint. Once the paint has cured, all types of cleaning may be used (car wash, high-pressure cleaning etc.).

POINTS TO KEEP IN MIND FOR AFTERCARE OF OLDER PAINTWORK

  • Soak a soft cloth or cotton wool in finish cleaner and rub into the paintwork section by section using circular motions. The cotton wool or cloth may assume the colour of the paint as dirt particles and weathering products are removed.
  • After this intensive cleaning, it is essential to apply a high-gloss hard wax.
  • In addition, to regular care, we recommend examining the paintwork each year before winter sets in, to check for any stone chips or other paint damage and have them repaired if necessary. This is the only reliable way to prevent damage from spreading.

Bumper Color Variation

Have you ever noticed a difference in color between the plastic
and metal parts of your vehicle?

Due to the complex and ever evolving technologies used in modern vehicles, there may be some inherent color variations between the different parts of your vehicle.

Causes of Color Variation

  1. During the OEM paint process, plastic bumpers are often painted separately from the main body of the vehicle using different paint technologies: as plastic parts cannot withstand the high bake process that metal parts undergo.
  2. Color variations occur even if the body and the bumpers are painted at the same time, with the same paint. This is caused by the fundamental differences in the surface properties of the two substances.
  3. The evaporation rate for solvent varies over metal or plastic. A longer rate gives a flake pigment addition time to ‘float’ which can darken the face of the colour.
  4. Light reflects differently on curved and flat surfaces, which cause the appearance of a color shift.

We recognise the importance of ensuring your vehicles paint quality and appearance; that’s why we use the best color technologies available to minimise any color variation.
